BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's volleyball team dropped a straight-set non-conference decision to Brooklyn College, 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-20) on Tuesday evening at Brooklyn Technical High School.

St. Joseph's (2-8) loses their third straight match while Brooklyn College (8-8) improves to .500 for the first time this season and has now won three matches in a row.

The Bears were led by senior Martin Torres (Ozone Park, NY/St. Francis Prep) who put down seven kills and had a team-high .125 hitting percentage. Junior Iqbal Husain (West Palm Beach, FL/Palm Beach Gardens) was the primary facilitator of the offense dishing out a team-high ten assists. St. Joseph's opened the first set scoring the first point before Brooklyn rallied and scored six unanswered to take a commanding 6-1 lead they would not relinquish.

The Bulldogs would open the second set on a 9-2 run and did not look back taking the set easily as the Bears had trouble handling Brooklyn's serves.

The third and final set was tightly contested with St. Joseph's building a 10-7 lead but the Bulldogs would regroup and take their first lead of the set at 11-10. The lead went back and forth until Brooklyn finished the set off on a 6-1 spurt after the score was tied 19-19 ending the match.

The Bulldogs amassed 31 kills and had an impressive .322 hitting percentage as a team while utilizing the serve to their advantage finishing with 13 service aces.

The Bears had trouble finding their groove offensively combining for 12 kills and 16 attack errors finishing with a -.078 hitting percentage with their best performance coming in the hard fought third set when they hit .069.

St. Joseph's looks to bounce back when they return to action on Monday, March 18th for a HVMAC matchup against Webb Institute with first serve slated for 7:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Technical High School.
