Kostikas Earns Second-Straight HVMAC Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week Honor

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) freshman Taso Kostikas (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) has been named the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 7th as announced by the conference earlier today.

This is Kostikas' second-straight Rookie of the Week selection as his outstanding play continues. The Bears outside hitter posted his first career double-double this week with a career-high 10-kill, 10-dig effort to go along with five service aces in St. Joseph's win at Webb, that helped clinch second place.

The freshman has played an integral part in the Bears' four-game winning streak, including a seven-kill, nine-dig, and four-ace performance in last night's victory over Medgar Evers.

The Bears volleyball team has now totaled seven wins on the season, which is a high for the young program. Up next for St. Joseph's is the season-ending HVMAC Tournament, where they will be the No. 2 seed taking on No. 3 Sarah Lawrence College in the semifinals. The tournament takes place at Yeshiva University on Thursday, April 11 with the semifinals at 6 p.m.
