Men's Volleyball Drops Straight Set Loss to Purchase
PURCHASE, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) men's volleyball team were beaten by Purchase College in straight sets, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-11), on Thursday night at the Purchase College gym.
The Bears (3-6) struggled with their errors throughout the game en route to their second consecutive loss, compiling 18 of them for their three-set match against the Panthers (5-8).
Raul Urshela (Orlando, Fla./Colonial) and Clyde Delacruz (Brooklyn, N.Y./Frederick Douglas Academy II) tied the team-high with four kills apiece, while Taso Kostikas (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) had two kills and eight digs. Iqbal Husain (West Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens) accounted for all of the team's 11 assists in a losing cause for the Bears.
Kevin Carges led the way with 18 kills and Kevon Kareem Bruce followed with 16 for Purchase. Andrew Schwab had a match-high 25 assists and Riley Damerell dished out 13 of his own.

- The Bears hit -.092 for the match and had more errors than kills throughout the match (12 K-18 E-11 A) while the Panthers hit .231 in their three-game sweep, dished out 38 assists and had more than twice as many kills as errors (40 K-19 E-38 A).
