Men’s Volleyball Host Their First Tri-Match Against a Pair of Skyline Conference Opponents

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's volleyball team (0-11, 0-2 Skyline) was visited by conference adversaries, Mount Saint Vincent and Purchase State on Saturday morning and afternoon, respectively. The Bears came up empty though, dropping both matches in straight set decisions, 3-0.  

Sophomore Tim Driscoll (Staten Island, N.Y. / St. Peter's) put together the best overall performance for the Bears on the day, totaling 11 kills and seven digs. Sophomore Stephen Eddy (Glendale, N.Y. / Christ the King) finished the afternoon crushing four kills, two service aces, and stepping in for 11 total digs. Senior Alec Willis (Staten Island, N.Y. / St. Joseph by the Sea) continued to play the role of facilitator for the Bears, as he led the team with 17 total assists to go with two kills and seven digs. Despite being unavailable for the first match, Freshman Dejon St. Rose-Cuffy (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Bishop Loughlin) made his presence felt against Purchase State, smashing four kills and two digs.

Mount Saint Vincent's (7-10, 3-0 Skyline) main contributors were Jordan Steiger, Logan Dickover, and Neven Skoblar. Steiger led the team with nine kills, Dickover produced a team-high 20 assists with six service aces, and Skoblar slammed a team-leading 11 service aces and two kills.

Purchase State (4-7, 2-2 Skyline) was carried by Luke Kubisch and Andreo Otiniano. Kubisch led the team with six kills, four service aces, and five digs. Otiniano amassed a team-high five service aces, five kills and eight assists.

The Bears with be back on the road to face Yeshiva University on Wednesday, March 14. First serve is set for 8:00 p.m.
