Men’s Volleyball Tripped Up at Baruch
NEW YORK — Opening a four-game road stand, the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's volleyball team fell to Baruch College, 3-0 (25-6, 25-12, 25-12) on Tuesday evening at The ARC.
Senior Tim Driscoll (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's) paced the Bears (0-2) attack with six kills. The Bearcats (1-0) used a .412 hitting effort with nearly four times as many kills prevail in their season opener.
How it Happened
The hosts raced out to a 13-0 lead in the first to set the tone for the contest. St. Joseph's held their only lead early in the second stanza on a Driscoll kill to open the set and later led on a Baruch error.
After totaling just three kills over the first two sets the offense found combined for seven in the third but couldn't match the CUNYAC runner-ups who finished with 14 kills and hit .455 in the final frame.
For the Bears
- Tim Driscoll accounted for six of the 10 SJC kills, also landing an ace and bringing up four digs.
- Sean Salomons (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's) contributed in a pair of kills and a block.
- Stephen Eddy (Glendale, N.Y./Christ the King) and Dejon St. Rose-Cuffy (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) chipped in a kill each.
Next up for the Bears
St. Joseph's heads to Langhorne, Pa. for a tri-match with Cairn and Penn State-Behrend on Saturday (Jan. 26) starting at 11 a.m.
