Driscoll, Salomons, and Eddy Land on All-Skyline Men’s Volleyball Second Team

NEW YORK — St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) seniors Tim Driscoll (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's), Sean Salomons (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's), and junior Stephen Eddy (Glendale, N.Y./Christ the King) were all named to the Skyline Conference Men's Volleyball All-Conference Second Team as announced by the league office today.

The trio of Driscoll, Salomons, and Eddy led the Bears to their best finish as a member of the Skyline claiming third place with a 5-5 league record and qualifying for the first Skyline Championship in program history, where they fell to No. 2 seed Purchase College in a five-set semifinal.

To date, the three 2019 honorees extend the list of SJC Brooklyn student-athletes earning All-Skyline recognition across all sports to 12 for the 2018-19 academic year, surpassing the total recipients in each of the past two seasons.

Driscoll was the Skyline Rookie of the Year last season and garnered second-team accolades becoming the first men's volleyball student-athlete in program history to earn All-Skyline praise.

Driscoll finished third in the league with 221 kills, more than doubling his total from last season, and his 2.54 kills per set ranked second. The Staten Island native also tied for fourth in service aces (38), was among the top-10 in hitting percentage (.124), and shined defensively as well, leading the Skyline with 242 digs and 2.78 digs per set. He posted double-digit kills on nine occasions and had five double-doubles, most notably a 21-kill, 19-dig performance on .271 hitting at Yeshiva.

Salomons was top 10 in hitting percentage as well (.112) and ranked second on the Bears in kills (163) as one of 13 Skyline players with at least 100 kills. A one-time Player of the Week selection, he was also third in the league with 44 total blocks and his 26 solo blocks were good for second. The St. Peter's product put up multiple blocks in six-straight contests and had 10-plus kills six times, highlighted by a career-high 18 with three total blocks versus Yeshiva and 12 kills on .480 hitting at York.

Eddy held down the Bears' back row all season long, bringing up 227 digs on the year and 2.61 digs per set which placed him second in the Skyline in both categories. He finished second on the squad with 18 aces and his 113 kills ranked third. The junior also appeared twice in the top-five individual game-highs for digs in the Skyline with two 21-dig outings and he put up 10-plus digs nine times. Additionally, Eddy shined in the Bears' Skyline semifinal matchup notching a double-double with a career- and team-high 15 kills and 17 digs.

The All-Conference teams and Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year are selected by the league's six head coaches.
