Alyson Chiaramonte Named AD3I Student-Athlete of the Month and Receives USCAA Pitcher of the Week Ho

KANSAS CITY, MO – A week after receiving Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Softball Player of the Week honors, Alyson Chiaramonte (Staten Island, NY) has been named the AD3I March Student-Athlete of the Month.

For the month, Chiaramonte led St. Joseph's to four wins, amassing a .429 batting average and .667 slugging percentage, leading the Lady Bears in both categories.  She had 10 RBIs, nine hits, eight runs with a home run and a triple.

In the circle, the freshman hurler amassed a 2-2 record, including St. Joseph's first win at the Tucson Invitational Games in three years, pitching a complete game 11-2 win over AD3I member Mount Mary College.  In that win, she struck out 11, scattering four hits and giving up one earned run.  She pitched four complete games, posting a 4.00 ERA with 25 strikeouts.

This is the second time this academic year a St. Joseph's College student-athlete has received the honor, with women's basketball's Ashley McQuillan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) named the AD3I December Student-Athlete of the Month.

Also recognizing her efforts last week, Chiaramonte was named the Pitcher of the Week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).  For the week ending April 5th, she went 1-1, pitching 13.0 innings in two complete games against perennial rivals Mount Saint Vincent and St. Elizabeth.  Chiaramonte gave up only one earned run in the two outings, struck out 18 and held opposing batters to a .140 batting average.
