Lady Bears Headed to Nationals for Third Straight Year

BROOKLYN, NY – Athletic Director and Head Coach Frank P. Carbone is proud to announce that St. Joseph's College has accepted a bid to compete in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Softball National Championships to be held at Firestone Stadium in Akron Ohio from May 6-9.

The Lady Bears are currently the number the #3 team in the USCAA and have been climbing the rankings each week. Right now, St. Joseph's sits with a 20-6 record, their third straight season with at least 20 wins and seventh all-time.

This is the third straight season the Lady Bears will participate in the National tournament and the fifth time overall in their ten year history. St. Joseph's entered the tournament last season as the #6 seed and finished in third place, winning their final two games in walk-off fashion.

Seedings for the eight-team double elimination tournament are expected to be released later this week.  The National Championships will be held at Firestone Stadium, home of the Akron Racers, a professional team in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league, with the tournament hosted by Penn State Beaver and the Akron Racers.

In preparation of the USCAA Tournament, the Lady Bears will defend their title in the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference Invitational this Saturday at Sarah Lawrence.
