Chiaramonte Garners Weekly Honors

BROOKLYN, NY – Junior pitcher Alyson Chiaramonte (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) was going to have a difficult time topping last year's season as AD3I Player of the Year and USCAA All-American, but she is well under way to repeating her success. Chiaramonte has been chosen as the AD3I Player of the Week and USCAA Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 20th.

Chiaramonte received the AD3I accolade three times and the USCAA honor twice during her sophomore season.

Chiaramonte appeared in four games at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, FL. In 23.2 innings of work, Chiaramonte allowed only one earned run, compiling a miniscule ERA of 0.30. She went 3-0 in her three starts, striking out 17 batters and walking only one. In her final start of the trip, Chiaramonte got within one out of a no-hitter, but a two-out triple spoiled her bid.

Chiaramonte was also a force at the plate, collecting four hits and a team-leading five RBI.

Tthe Lady Bears resume play again on Friday, March 25th, christening their new home field at Padavan-Preller Fields in Bellerose, Queens with their home opener against Albertus Magnus. The doubleheader starts at 3:30 pm. As part of a special home opening day double feature, the St. Joseph's baseball team will hold its home opener at the same complex starting 12:00 pm against the University of Maine-Presque Isle.
