Perillo Takes Home USCAA and HVWAC Softball Pitcher of the Week Honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Recognizing her outstanding performance in the circle in helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) softball team to a 4-3-1 record, Jackie Perillo (Howard Beach, NY/Archbishop Molloy) has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Pitcher of the Week.

Perillo tossed the 16th no-hitter in St. Joseph's College history against New Rochelle retiring the first 13 batters before issuing a walk, her only blemish from a perfect game in the five-inning affair. The sophomore finished the day with a career-best six strikeouts. Perillo finished the week compiling a 3-1 mark in the circle and recording her first collegiate victories, striking out 11 on the week. The outfielder/pitcher also helped her own cause at the plate going 5-for-15 (.333) at the plate with eight runs scored including going 1-for-2 with two runs scored during her no-hitter.

The USCAA and HVWAC honors are the first earned by Perillo this season. However, the sophomore was named HVWAC Rookie of the Week twice and was an Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) All-Independent Second Team selection last season. The USCAA award is the first earned by a Lady Bear this season while Perillo follows teammate Mabel Vargas (Ridgewood, NY/Mary Louis) as HVWAC Pitcher of the Week.

St. Joseph's (7-10-1) returns to action on Friday, April 12th as they travel to Bronxville to take on HVWAC foe Sarah Lawrence for a doubleheader with first pitch set for 4 p.m.
