Marino Captures USCAA, AD3I, HVWAC Softball Player of the Week Accolades

BROOKLYN N.Y. – Bears senior catcher Danielle Marino (Maspeth, NY/Mary Louis) continues to build on her impressive career resume, adding three more accolades to her collection this week. Marino has been named the Softball Player of the Week by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I), United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) for her outstanding performances this week.

Marino batted .833 (10-for-12) at the plate with six RBI, five runs scored and three doubles as the Lady Bears went 3-1 during the week. The catcher led the Lady Bears with a 1.083 slugging percentage while also compiling an on base percentage of .813. The senior had her best game of the week in an 8-6 win over Brooklyn College as she went 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Marino also gunned down two potential base stealers from behind the plate.

Marino crossed the 100-hit mark last week vs. New Rochelle and sits one run away from the 100-run milestone.

This is the second time Marino has been named AD3I Player of the Week in her career, with her first award coming in 2011. The senior has also been named to the AD3I All-Independent First Team twice and to the second team once. The USCAA award is the first she has received and the HVWAC honor is the second of her career.

Next up for the Lady Bears (10-11-1) is a doubleheader against Baruch this Friday, April 26th at Padavan-Preller Field with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
