Molinari Tabbed AD3I and HVWAC Softball Player of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – After accumulating a batting average of .400 at the plate and helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) softball team to a 4-2 record, Cassandra Molinari (Brooklyn, NY/St. Edmund Prep) has been named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) and Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Player of the Week.

In addition to the exceptional batting average, Molinari drove in eight runs, scored five and had a team-high four doubles. The third baseman had her best game of the week in St. Joseph's hard-fought game two loss to Baruch on Friday as she went 3-for-4 with three RBI a run scored and a two-run double. Molinari also made one start in the circle at Sarah Lawrence and picked up her first career win tossing five innings allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out four.

This is Molinari's first time receiving Player of the Week honors from either association. Molinari was a two-time HVWAC Rookie of the Week last year and also received United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Player of the Week honors once last season.

The Lady Bears (13-12-1) return to the field taking on sister campus St. Joseph's College (Long Island) in a doubleheader on Thursday, May 2nd at the SJC Outdoor Complex in Patchogue, with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. Live stats and video will be available on SJCBears.com along with updates on Twitter via @SJCBears.
