Last Time Out: The Lady Bears failed to get their hitting together early and could not hold the lead late as they dropped both ends of a doubleheader against Briarcliffe College, 9-1 in six innings in game one anad 8-7 in game two at the PAL Complex on Thursday.

St. Joseph's looks to make a late run toward a possible USCAA National Championships berth as they hit a critical part of their schedule, playing seven games over the next week. The Lady Bears have seen their bats come to life since returning from Florida, hitting .332 (64-for-193) as a team over a seven-game stretch to increase their team batting average to a respectable .270.

Junior catcher/second baseman Cassandra Molinari continues to pace St. Joseph's at the dish, batting a team-high .447 (17-for-38) with five runs scored, seven RBI and ranks first on the team with a .500 slugging percentage. The one-time HVIAC Player of the Week has been strong defensively for the Lady Bears, throwing out six runners from behind the plate.

Freshmen Kristin Ferrigno and Geena Campisi have jumped into the St. Joseph's lineup as rookies and have produced with Ferrigno leading the team with 11 RBI, while hitting an impressive .361 (13-for-36). Campisi adds a .364 average to the lineup and has contributed five RBI and five runs scored.

The Lady Bears are led in the circle by junior Jackie Perillo and last week's HVIAC Pitcher of the Week freshman Jamilynn McGowan who each have five complete games on the season. Perillo is 1-5 on the year with an 8.52 ERA in 33 2/3 innings and has contributed at the plate with a team-high-tying seven runs scored. McGowan leads St. Joseph's with a 2-5 mark and a 5.66 ERA in a team-high 38 1/3 innings.

Last Time Out: John Jay dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Brooklyn College on Thursday, falling 8-0 in the opener before suffering a 4-2 setback in the nightcap.

The Bloodhounds look to turn their season around as they are currently on pace to have their tenth straight losing season.
