Molinari Garners USCAA 2nd Team All-American Honors, Rossi Honorable Mention; Three Pick Up All-Academic Accolade

AKRON, Ohio – Recognizing their outstanding performance on the season in helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) softball team to a winning record for the fifth time in six years, junior Cassandra Molinari (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) was named a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Second Team All-American, while freshman Samantha Rossi (Bayside, N.Y./Mary Louis) was an Honorable Mention selection in ceremonies preceding the start of the Small College World Series in Akron.

Also taking home accolades for the USCAA is seniors Christina Quintana (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) and Megan Moran (Syosset, N.Y./St. Dominic's) along with sophomore Maria Randazzo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) who were named to the National All-Academic Team.

Molinari had a career season for the Lady Bears, hitting a career-high .475 on the year with 28 runs scored and a team-high-tying 26 RBI. The junior also recorded eight doubles and had a team-best .606 slugging percentage in a team-high 99 at bats. The catcher/second baseman nailed a team-high 47 hits on the season, including her 100th career hit versus Sarah Lawrence on May 4th in style with her first home run of the season.

The HVIAC All-Conference selection and one-time USCAA and HVIAC Player of the Week was also strong from behind the dish, gunning down ten potential basestealers. Molinari was a tough out for opposing pitchers as she only struck out four times on the year and compiled a .491 on base percentage.

Rossi was a pleasant surprise for St. Joseph's in her first year on campus, hitting .398 with a team-high-tying 26 RBI along with 24 runs scored. The outfielder supplied a lot of power for the Lady Bears, knocking a team-high-tying two jacks and paced the team with ten doubles. The HVIAC All-Conference selection and one-time AD3I and HVIAC Player of the Week finished with a strong .580 slugging percentage and ended up with seven outfield assists.

The one-time HVIAC Rookie of the Week capped off the season on a high note as she ended her freshman campaign on a 13-game hitting streak.

Quintana concluded her four-year career with the Lady Bears, accumulating an impressive .385 average in 26 at bats with eight RBI and five runs scored. The outfielder also ended up with three doubles and produced a high .515 on base percentage in 20 games.

Moran ended her time as a Lady Bear by appearing in eight games, finishing with two hits and an RBI, while sporting a .385 on base percentage.

Randazzo appeared in 27 games for St. Joseph's and hit a strong .373 with 13 runs scored and 11 RBI in 51 at bats. The outfielder also smacked three doubles, a triple and ended the season with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 56 chances.

Molinari and Rossi earn their first year-end honors from the USCAA and Molinari becomes first Lady Bear to be named an All-American since current assistant coach Alyson Chiaramonte in 2012. Quintana takes home the All-Academic Team honor for the third consecutive year, while Moran is now a two-time recipient. Randazzo receives the accolade in her first year of eligibility after earning All-Academic honors from the USCAA in women's soccer and women's cross country in the fall.
