Summer Spotlight: Jackie Perillo, Softball

Lady Bears Softball pitcher Jackie Perillo garnered HVIAC Tournament MVP honors for the second straight year helping to lead St. Joseph's to their sixth straight HVIAC tournament title. Perillo split time in the circle and the outfield, compiling an 8-8 record with 49 strikeouts, including a combined no-hitter vs. New Rochelle. At the dish, the senior this fall led off the lineup and batted .313 with 28 runs scored and hit a team-high-tying two home runs and stole five bases. For her efforts, Perillo was named to the AD3I All-Independent Second Team for the second straight season.

Best moment in a Lady Bears uniform…

Was during my freshman year -- My softball team made nationals and I was playing as a freshman.  A close second was when I pitched against Brooklyn College my sophmore year.

Pre-game rituals or superstitions…

Before every at bat I must lock fingers with my teammate Cassandra [Molinari]. Also when I'm pitching if I throw a good pitch I walk around the entire pitching circle clockwise, but if I throw a bad bitch I walk around the circle counterclockwise.

My pump up song before a game is…

Whatever our team song is that week or whatever is popular on the radio at that time.

Favorite road trip so far…

When I went to play in Puerto Rico with my team freshman year.

Favorite place to eat on team trips…

Steak N' Shake where I usually order a chocolate fudge brownie shake!
