Marino Collects AD3I Softball Player of the Week and HVIAC Rookie of the Week Accolades

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—After leading the team in batting after her collegiate debut at the Tucson Invitational Games, Destiny Marino has been named the Association of Division III Independents Softball Player of the Week and the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 22.

Opening the season against a tough slate of teams—that included a Division II team and a ranked team—in Arizona, Marino batted a team-best .400 (4-for-10) with a double. The Middle Village, N.Y. freshman collected a hit in four-of-five games played, assembling a team-long four-game hitting streak.

The Christ the King product also played on the women's soccer and basketball teams and received AD3I Player of the Week honors once and HVIAC Rookie of the Week honors four times on the hardwood this season.

The Lady Bears (0-6) open their home slate of games on Thursday seeking their first win of the season hosting HVIAC foe New Rochelle in a doubleheader at Padavan-Peller Field starting at 4 p.m.
