BELLEROSE, N.Y.—Belting out 25 hits and producing 22 runs, the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) softball team cruised to a doubleheader sweep of York College (N.Y.) on Thursday afternoon at Padavan-Preller Field, improving their win streak to six games.

The Lady Bears (6-6) improved to .500 on the season and remained unblemished all-time against the Cardinals (0-8), winning 9-1 in six innings in game one followed by a 13-2 triumph in five innings in game two.

St. Joseph's responded with five runs in the home half of the inning aided by two Cardinal miscues. Cassandra Molinari (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) started the scoring with a grounder that brought home Ferrigno who reached on an error and the Lady Bears followed with four straight hits to break open the frame.

Perillo laced a double, scoring on a Samantha Rossi (Bayside, N.Y./Mary Louis) single, who then scored on a Destiny Marino (Middle Village, N.Y./Christ the King) triple to the wall. Maria Gentile (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) capped the scoring with a single.

Freshman Theresa Armano (Middle Village, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) added to her cause in the circle with a two-out single in the third followed by a Ferrigno single to push the lead to 7-1. Armano would strike out five and scattered four hits over four innings of work to improve to 3-3 in the circle.

After two scoreless frames, the Lady Bears tacked on two more runs in the sixth, Maria Randazzo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) driving in a run with her second hit of the game and Geena Campisi (Howard Beach, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) plating a run on a grounder to reach the run-rule.

In the nightcap, the Lady Bears bats came alive early belting 11 hits and building a 12-0 run through three innings, scoring four in the first, six in the second and two in the third.

Perillo laced a pair of doubles in her first two at bats, a bases-clearing double in the second highlighting a 2-for-2 game with five RBI.

Junior Erica Eddy (Glendale, N.Y./Christ the King) and Ferrigno also rapped run-scoring doubles in the second, both finishing the game 2-for-2 with a RBI.

Taking the circle in game two, Jamilynn McGowan (Staten Island, N.Y./Michael J. Petrides) allowed just one hit through three before the Cardinals touched her up for an unearned run in the fourth. McGowan would improve to 3-3 scattering three hits, striking out four and walking two.
