Mahoney Tabbed Skyline Softball Pitcher of the Week

NEW YORK — Firing the first Bears no-hitter since the 2014 season, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) senior Victoria Mahoney (Allenwood, N.J./Saint John Vianney) has been named Skyline Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league office today.

In the Bears conference opener against Yeshiva on Tuesday, Mahoney was near perfect in the circle in an 8-0, six-inning shutout. The senior struck out nine and walked none in the no-hit effort where she faced one batter over the minimum, the only Maccabee to reach base coming on an error in the first.

At the plate, she also batted 3-for-5 over the doubleheader, driving in three runs and scoring three times as SJC improved to 5-6 and 2-0 in league play with a sweep of Yeshiva.

The pitcher of the week accolade is the first weekly honor collected by a Bear this season and the third time Mahoney receives the honor in her career.

St. Joseph's returns to action on Wednesday, March 27 hosting SUNY College at Old Westbury in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Gil Hodges Field starting at 3 p.m.
