Hartwig Garners Skyline Softball Player of the Week Honors

NEW YORK — Batting .684 over a six-game stretch and extending her hitting streak to nine games, freshman Ashleigh Hartwig (Santee, Calif./West Hills) has been named the Skyline Conference Softball Player of the Week for games played April 1-7, announced by the league office today.

The rookie third baseman finished 13-for-19 on the week and ascended atop the league lead in batting and is ranked 35th in Division III, lifting her average to .493 on the season. Nearly half of her hits went for extra bases as she belted five doubles and one triple and also leads the Skyline in slugging with a .726 percentage.

The top run producer in the Skyline, she padded her lead with nine RBI last week and now has 30—10 clear of second in the conference—and ranks 27th in the nation with 1.3 RBI per game.

During a doubleheader sweep of Brooklyn College on Tuesday, Hartwig went 5-for-6 with four RBI, three doubles and a triple. The Santee, California product capped off the week finishing a perfect 6-for-6 yesterday at home versus FDU-Florham with three RBI and a double.

The Skyline Player of the Week honor is just the second received in program history and first in two seasons. The weekly award is the second collected by a Bear this season following Victoria Mahoney's selection as Pitcher of the Week two weeks ago.

St. Joseph's (10-13. 5-5 Skyline) heads to Madison, New Jersey to face Drew University in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 10 starting at 3:30 p.m.
