Women’s Swimming Notches First Skyline Victory Defeating Old Westbury In Double Dual Split

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team earned their first Skyline Conference victory with a 133-49 triumph over SUNY College at Old Westbury in a split of a Skyline Conference double dual at Sarah Lawrence. Also in action, the men's team dropped both ends of the double dual.

SJC Highlights

  • The Bears 200-yard medley relay squad of Julia Dineen, Rebecca Bollman, Valerie Rodriguez, and Brianna Minogue teamed up to win the opening event, edging out the hosts by just .42 of a second with a time of 2:16.31.
  • Sophomore Shannon Doherty collected a pair of second-place individual finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (1:13.09) and the 50-yard freestyle (27.87).
  • Freshman Kathryn Cosenza logged a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (1:08.75) and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:32.42). 
  • Freshman Eireann Corbett swam her fastest times of the season by over 14 seconds in both the 1000-yard freestyle (14:35.33) and the 500-yard freestyle (7:00.91) to take second and third place in each event.
  • Freshman Rebecca Bollmann notched a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:22.01) and a fourth-place finish in 200-yard individual medley (2:46.26) swimming a season best.
  • Freshman Jessica Gnad grabbed second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:29.65) in her first time swimming the event this season and third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:14.00) also posting a season best.
  • After anchoring the opening, winning medley relay, junior Brianna Minogue earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:37.18) and 100-yard freestyle (1:09.24).
  • Freshman Juan Sandoval was the highest placing men's finisher taking fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (29.14).

The women's team will be in action alone after the Thanksgiving break facing John Jay College in a road meet on Monday, November 28 starting at 6 p.m.
