Women’s Swimming Sets Four Records Taking Seventh at Skyline Championships
PURCHASE, N.Y. — Junior Shannon Doherty (Brooklyn, N.Y./Churchill) lowered three of her own program records and helped set a new medley relay standard leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team to a seventh-place finish at the Skyline Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday at Purchase College.

SJC Highlights
- Junior Shannon Doherty (Brooklyn, N.Y./Churchill) was the top point collector for the Bears accounting 39 of the team's 56 points. She smashed her record in the 200-yard freestyle by seven seconds finishing in 2:11.43 for 10th place and lowered her marks in the 100-yard freestyle to 58.27 for sixth place and in the 100-yard butterfly to 106.80 for eighth place. She also took 11th in the 50-yard freestyle (27.42), scoring in all five events she competed.
- The quartet of Valerie Rodriguez (Brooklyn, N.Y./New Utrecht), Rebecca Bollmann (Broad Channel, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy), Shannon Doherty and Kathryn Cosenza (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) set a new program record in the 200-yard medley relay, lowering the previous best that stood for nearly two years to 2:07.84.
- The 400-yard medley relay squad of Brianna Minogue (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney), Jessica Gnad (Brooklyn, N.Y./Leon M. Goldstein), Kathryn Cosenza and Eireann Corbett (Woodhaven, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) teamed up for a seventh-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:30.14).
- Sophomore Jessica Gnad scored 11th-place points in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 1:12.88.
- Sophomore Rebecca Bollmann placed in 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:25.22).
- Sophomore Kathryn Cosenza swam a personal best in the 100-yard freestyle 1:04.77.
- Sophomore Juan Sandoval (Ridgewood, N.Y./Christ the King) bettered his personal best in the 50-yard freestyle for the fourth time this season, touching the wall in 27.00.

- The women's swim team will conclude their 2017-18 campaign with a non-conference dual meet against sibling rivals SJC Long Island tomorrow (Jan. 28) at 3 p.m. at the Danzi Athletic Center in Patchogue.
