McNamee Named AD3I Women's Basketball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Senior guard Kelly McNamee (Glendale, N.Y./Mary Louis) has been named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) women's basketball Player of the Week after helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's basketball team to a 3-0 record during the week.

McNamee was the leader of a St. Joseph's team that moved over .500 for the first time this season with their current three-game winning streak. The senior opened her week with a 15-point effort at Medgar Evers finishing 7-of-9 from the field with two boards and three steals. The guard stepped up her play at the Cedar Crest College Tournament as she was named Tournament MVP after St. Joseph's defeated both Lehman and NYU-Poly to take home the tournament title.

Against Lehman, McNamee finished with a career-high-tying 21 points connecting on five of her eight shots from the field while going a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe. The senior helped the Lady Bears clinch the tournament title with 11 points and four rebounds along with two steals in the championship game versus NYU-Poly.

McNamee finished the week averaging 15.7 points per game, 2.7 rebounds per game and 1.7 steals per game. The senior shot an impressive 57.1 percent from the field (16-of-28) including 40 percent (4-of-10) from beyond the arc and was a perfect 11-of-11 from the line.

McNamee earns the second Player of the Week award by a Lady Bear this season following junior Samantha Retas (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) who was named USCAA Player of the Week a week ago. Last year's AD3I All-Independent Second Team honoree earns the first Player of the Week accolade of her career. The senior also took home honor roll honors from the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) for the first time this season.

St. Joseph's returns to the floor on Saturday, November 30th travelling to the state of Virginia to face fellow USCAA member Southern Virginia at 12 p.m.
