O’Donnell Collects Seventh Skyline Rookie of the Week Award

NEW YORK — For the fourth straight week and seventh time this season, freshman Kelly O'Donnell (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) has been selected as the Skyline Conference women's basketball Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office today.

The 5-foot-10 guard extended her streak scoring in double figures to 23 games as the Bears (11-14) wrapped up their winningest season in Skyline play at a level 9-9 mark and earning the No. 6 seed for the Skyline Conference Championship, which begins today with first-round action.

O'Donnell scored 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting along with eight rebounds leading St. Joseph's to a near upset of regular-season champion Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday, who finished the season on a 14-game winning streak. Her game-high 27 was the most surrendered by the No. 1 scoring defense in the league to a Skyline player all season.

She concluded the week with 12 points, six rebounds and three assists in a win over SJC Long Island on Saturday.

O'Donnell finished the regular season ranked second in the league in scoring in conference games posting 19.9 an outing.

The Bears make their second appearance in the Skyline Championship in three years heading to third-seeded Farmingdale State College for a first-round matchup starting at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to the semifinals to face second-seeded SUNY College at Old Westbury on Thursday.
