Three-Point Queen Porcasi Named Skyline Player of the Week

NEW YORK — Leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's basketball team to a 2-0 week and setting the program record for career three-pointers made, senior Victoria Porcasi (Franklin Square, N.Y./H. Frank Carey) has been named the Skyline Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Porcasi earns the honor for the second time in her career—receiving it once as a sophomore—and is the second collected by a Bear this season, with Lauren Quesada (Westbury, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) garnering the award two weeks ago.

The senior opened the week draining seven three-pointers and pulling down as many boards finishing with 23 points in 25 minutes in a decisive win over Sarah Lawrence on Thursday. With her fifth triple of the game at the 3:57 mark of the third quarter, Porcasi became the program leader in three-pointers made surpassing the mark of 212 Michelle Softy set from 2002-06 in 17 fewer games played.

On Saturday, Porcasi poured in a season-high 27 points while dishing out a career-high eight assists as the Bears defeated sibling rivals SJC Long Island—their ninth straight in the series—to move within a half-game of first place in the Skyline standings.

Porcasi currently leads Division III with 38 three-pointers made this season while her Bears-record 216 trifectas rank fifth among all active Division III players.

Winners of five of their last six, St. Joseph's (6-3, 5-1) takes a break from Skyline Conference action for three non-league games, first heading to Kings County rivals Brooklyn College on Tuesday, December 11 with a 6 p.m. tip-off. Video will be available via SJCBears.com.
