Fahy Named Offensive Player of the Year, Headlining Three Lady Bears on AD3I All-Independent Women’s Soccer Teams

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After setting a new St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) program record for goals and points, sophomore Shannon Fahy (Breezy Point, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) was named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Offensive Player of the Year as the full AD3I All-Independent Women's Soccer Teams were announced by the association recently.

Joining Fahy on the First Team is sophomore Pamela Chernyakhovsky (Brooklyn, N.Y./Leon M. Goldstein) tabbed as a midfielder while senior Daniela Semilia (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) took home Second Team honors as a defender. The trio helped lead the Lady Bears to their second straight HVIAC tournament berth, concluding their second year as a varsity program with a 5-11 mark.

Fahy, a three-time AD3I Player of the Week and HVIAC All-Conference Team selection, led the Lady Bears with a school-record 14 goals on the year breaking the previous mark of 12 set by Cynthia Gambino (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) a year ago. The sophomore also notched six assists setting a new point record with 34 points on the year. The forward appeared in and started in all 16 games for St. Joseph's producing three game-winning goals while leading the team with 28 shots on goal. Fahy had four multi-goal games including a career-high four goals in the Lady Bears win over Berkeley that clinched a spot in the HVIAC Tournament.

Chernyakhovsky, who was last year's AD3I Rookie of the Year and a member of the First Team, led St. Joseph's with a school-record eight assists on the year while also tallying four goals. The sophomore finished second on the team with her 23 shots on goal and 16 points. The midfielder set a career-high with four assists in the Lady Bears win over Yeshiva while also firing a team-high 10 shots.

Semilia, earns AD3I honors for the first time in her career and was the anchor of a St. Joseph's defense that helped post three shutouts. The senior concluded her career with a career-high-tying three goals on the year to go along with six shots.

The All-Independent Teams are selected by coaches and sports information directors from AD3I member schools.
