2014 Women's Soccer Schedule Released
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team will embark on a 16-game slate as the 2014 schedule was released today by head coach Vadim Chernyakhovsky.
The Lady Bears will kick off their third varsity season with a non-conference road game against Medgar Evers College on Tuesday, Sept. 9 and will welcome former Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) foe Sarah Lawrence College on Sept. 12 in their home opener at Aviator Sports and Events Center.
All seven home games will be played at Aviator, including doubleheaders with the men's team against Fisher College (Sept. 17), defending HVIAC champion Albany College of Pharmacy (Sept. 28), USCAA foe Briarcliffe College (Sept. 30), Brooklyn rival Medgar Evers College (Oct. 15) and USCAA foe Washington Adventist University (Oct. 19).
The road slate features trips to Morristown, N.J. to face North Eastern Athletic Conference foe College of St. Elizabeth (Oct. 3) and a visit to the Bronx to face Skyline Conference foe Maritime College (Sep. 23) in the first meetings against both schools. The Lady Bears will also wrap up the regular season with a trip to Patchogue to face sibling rivals St. Joseph's College-Long Island (Oct. 29)
This year's schedule is fan friendly as 10 of the 16 games will be played at Aviator Field, including two key Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) matchups against King's (Oct. 9) and Berkeley (Oct. 23). After losing to the eventual league champion in last year's semifinals, the Lady Bear look to recapture the league title which they won in 2012 in their inaugural varsity campaign.
The top four teams will qualify for the HVIAC Tournament, with semifinal games played on Sunday, October 26 at the top two seeds and the championship held at The Culinary Institute of America on Sunday, November 2.
