Usta Garners AD3I Player of the Week, HVIAC Rookie of the Week Honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—Freshman Cansu Usta (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fort Hamilton) was honored for her outstanding play on the pitch for St. Joseph's as she was named the Association of Division III Independents women's soccer Player of the Week as well as the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.

The freshman forward scored five goals for two wins during the week, including racking up her third hat trick in her first four collegiate games in a win over Fisher College on September 17th. She is currently tied for second in the NCAA Division III leaders with 13 goals (one behind the national leader) and has a point total of 30.

Pamela Chernyakhovsky (Brooklyn, N.Y./Leon M. Goldstein) was named to the HVIAC Honor Roll for the Lady Bears, scoring four goals and dishing out two assists during a win against Yeshiva on September 15th.

St. Joseph's is currently off to their best start in their three-year history with a 4-0 record, averaging a Division III-best 8.2 goals over the stretch.

The Lady Bears head back onto the pitch Tuesday when they go on the road to take on Maritime College (N.Y.) in Throggs Neck, N.Y. at 7 p.m.
