Usta Named AD3I Player of the Week, HVIAC Rookie of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Cansu Usta (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been tabbed the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Women's Soccer Player of the Week as well as the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Rookie of the Week for her outstanding performance on the pitch.

The freshman now is a two-time AD3I Player of the Week and a four-time HVIAC Rookie of the Week this season.

Usta netted seven goals and dished an assist in a pair of wins over Medgar Evers and Washington Adventist, helping the Lady Bears (10-3) reach the 10-win mark for the first time in program history.

The freshman recorded her fifth hat trick of the season against Medgar Evers, scoring six goals for the second time this season. Through Sunday's game, Usta leads all of NCAA Division III with both 31 goals and 69 total points.

The Lady Bears return to play in a HVIAC matchup against Berkley College Wednesday as the first part of a doubleheader with the men's soccer team at the Aviator Sports and Events Center. Start time is at 4:15 p.m.
