Armstrong Sets Saves Record as Women's Soccer Falls to Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — Freshman Izabella Armstrong (Farmdale, Ohio/Badger H.S.) set a new program record with 26 saves but the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team suffered a 14-0 setback to SUNY College at Old Westbury in Skyline Conference play on Friday afternoon.

How it Happened

  • Jessica Tuckruskye opened the scoring barrage in the 7th minute putting back a rebound and the hosts tacked on two more goals in the next six minutes.
  • Old Westbury held the Lady Bears without a shot in the first half and led 9-0 at the intermission.
  • The Panthers bombarded the Lady Bears with 70 shots, 40 coming on goal. 

For the Lady Bears (1-3, 0-3 Skyline)

  • Armstrong stopped 26 of the 40 shots on goal to surpass the previous saves record by one.
  • Cansu Usta recorded all three official SJC shots, one coming on goal.

For the Panthers (5-3, 3-0 Skyline)

  • Tuckruskye netted a hat trick to lead six different Panthers to find the back of the net.
  • Lucia Mejia and Melissa Outsen both finished with two goals and an assist.
  • Old Westbury records their third straight shutout in Skyline Conference play to remain perfect in league play.

Next Up for St. Joseph's

The Lady Bears will have a day off before hosting Maritime College in a Skyline Conference matchup on Sunday, September 27 at 12 p.m. at Aviator Field.
