BRONX, N.Y. — Competing in the Lehman College Spring Soccer Classic on Saturday, the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team had a strong showing under new Head Coach Gary Lawson collecting a pair of wins and finishing 2-1 on the day.

Games were played as 40-minute contests, 7 vs. 7 with a goalie. Results and statistics don't count towards the team's overall record.

The Lady Bears fell behind 3-0 after conceding early goals, but came back to equalize the game at 3-3. SJC couldn't hold off the hosts for a draw as the Lightning struck with a goal in the final seconds to come away with the win.

Game 2: St Joseph's 2, York 1

Christina Caruso won the ball back, played a one-two with Christine Emigholz, and crossed it to Usta, who swept home an emphatic first-time finish on the half-volley.  Usta was also denied a fantastic strike from distance, when it appeared to cross the line after bouncing down from hitting the crossbar.

Christine Emigholz controlled a long ball from Cansu Usta and finished to put the Lady Bears up 1-0. Jocelyn Guaman extended SJC's lead to 2-0 with a close-range finish.
