BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Junior Deserae Sequeira (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) netted a pair of goals — giving her 45 for her career — to break the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer (2-0) program record for goals all-time in a 9-0 victory over York College (0-2) at Aviator Field on Wednesday night.

Classmate Anisah Molic (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner) put up a hat trick for her first tallies of the season while rookies Clara Curtiss (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) (two goals) and Haley Fahrmann (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) (one goal) added to the offensive attack as the Bears cruised to victory in their home opener.

How It Happened
Molic opened the scoring in the eighth minute with an unassisted goal from inside the box as she beat a diving goalkeeper with a shot to the right side for a 1-0 advantage. Curtiss then doubled the lead four minutes later with her first goal of the night after finishing a cross from sophomore Christina DiBartolo (Middle Village, N.Y./Forest Hills).

Sequeira secured the program record in the 27th minute as she rebounded her own miss off the post and tapped it in for SJC's third goal of the half. She then assisted on Curiss' second goal of the contest (31') while Molic scored on a breakaway just before intermission giving the Bears a 5-0 halftime edge.

Fahrmann scored her first collegiate goal just over a minute into the second half as St. Joseph's advantage continued to grow. The Bears weren't done though, as DiBartolo notched her second helper of the outing finding Sequeira again giving the reigning Skyline Player of the Week her second multi-goal performance in as many games while the team improved to 2-0.

For the Bears

  • Molic secured her hat trick on five shots (four SOG) and Sequeira fired six attempts on the night while both of her shots on goal found the back of the net. Sequeira also is the Bears' new all-time points leader with 113 after tonight.
  • Fellow junior Rachel Rocha (Linden, N.J./Linden) scored on a late-game penalty kick for her first goal of the season.
  • DiBartolo picked up her second-straight multi-assist outing with two in the victory.
  • Senior Lauren Quesada (Westbury, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) saved both of the shots that came her way in the second half.
