Women's Swimming Swept at Old Westbury Double Dual

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team dropped both ends of a double dual meet, falling to SUNY College at Old Westbury, 62-32, and The College of New Rochelle, 55-43, on Tuesday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Center.

St. Joseph's (1-4) was paced by sophomores Tina Wong (Brooklyn, N.Y./ HS of Telecommunications Art and Technology) and Morgan Summers (Bellerose, N.Y./St. Mary's) who collected the lone event wins for the Lady Bears. Wong captured the 1000-yard freestyle by 28 seconds with a time of 16:12.00 and Summers took the other distance event, the 500-yard freestyle, with a personal-best 6:30.02 for a one minute triumph. Summers also contributed a second place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:41.84) and Wong captured third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:19.74).

Freshman Julia Dineen (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) finished in second in the 100-yard backstroke, one of two runner up finishes for the lady Bears.

Junior Erin Collins (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) took third in both sprint events, the 50-yard freestyle (31.25) and 100-yard freestyle (1:12.66)

Old Westbury (2-5) swept the double dual and notched their first wins of the season, winning eight of the 11 events. The loss to the Panthers was the first in the all-time series. New Rochelle (1-4) also secured their first win of the season, defeating the Lady Bears for the first time since 2008.  

St. Joseph's returns to the pool on Friday, December 6th for their home opener hosting borough rival Brooklyn College at Brooklyn Technical High School starting at 7:30 p.m.
