Women's Swimming Sends Off Seniors With Win Over New Rochelle on Senior Night

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—In their season finale and on a night where they celebrated their three graduating seniors, the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team swept all 11 events and captured a 42-30 victory over The College of New Rochelle on Monday evening at Brooklyn Technical High School.

Junior Morgan Summers (Bellerose, N.Y./St. Mary's) bettered her school record in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:24.52. Taking third in the same event, Jessica Sacco (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS of Telecommunications Art and Technology) swam a personal best by nearly five seconds with 3:09.27. Summers would also place first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:14.51.

Junior Tina Wong (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS of Telecommunications Art and Technology) took first in the 100-yard butterfly, setting a personal best time of 1:13.83, almost four seconds lower than her previous best.

Freshman Brianna Minogue (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) collected a pair of first place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (30.08) and 100-yard freestyle (1:08.69).

Sophomore Jillian O'Hara (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) also won a pair of individual triumphs in the 200-yard individual medley (2:49.80) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:29.99).

Junior Leticia Salazar (Ridgewood, N.Y./Grover Cleveland) clocked in at 20:15.36 for first in the 1000-yard freestyle.

In her first time swimming the distance 500-yard freestyle event, senior Erin Collins (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) clocked in at 7:56.26 while fellow senior Jennifer Moncino (Ridgewood, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) placed in second with a time of 10:03.97.

Senior Shannon Rom (Breezy Point, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) placed third in the 50-yard freestyle just missing a personal best with a time of 34.86 and anchored the 200-yard freestyle relay squad with a 50-yard split of 32.45.

The Lady Bears wrap up their 2014-15 campaign with a 6-2 mark, two days removed from capturing their first HVIAC Invitational title. Their six wins also matches their program best set twice previously, last in 2012-13.
