Women's Swimming Opens Season at Sarah Lawrence Sprint Carnival

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team opened up their 2015 season with a fifth place finish at the Sarah Lawrence College Sprint Carnival on Saturday afternoon.

Notable

  • Morgan Summers turned in the highest finish for the Lady Bears securing second place in the 50-yard backstroke (32.19). The senior also helped SJC Brooklyn take third place in the opening 200-yard medley relay and closing 200-yard freestyle relay.
  • Tina Wong collected a third-place finish in the 100-yard individual medley (1:18.24) and fourth-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly (32.23).
  • In her first collegiate meet, freshman Shannon Doherty helped account for 30 of the team's 68 points, competing in both third-place relays, the 100-yard freestyle (1:10.74, 4th place), the 100-yard individual medley (1:21.85, 6th place) and the 200-yard individual medley (3:03.79, 6th place).
  • Julia Dineen contributed fourth-place points in the 50-yard backstroke (35.27) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:43.93) and swam in both third-place relays.

SJC Brooklyn will open Skyline Conference play travelling to sibling rivals SJC Long Island on Saturday, November 7 with the meet starting at 12 p.m.
