THROGGS NECK, N.Y. — Senior Morgan Summers (Bellerose, N.Y./St. Mary's) and sophomore Brianna Minogue (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) earned individual event wins as the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team wrapped up the regular season with a 120-59 conference setback to Maritime College on Friday evening.

How It Happened

  • The Privateers edged out the Lady Bears by two seconds in the opening 200-yard medley relay and never trailed.
  • Sophomore Brianna Minogue swam a season-best 2:35.47 in the 200-yard freestyle to capture event No. 3 and close the gap to 27-15. But the hosts reeled off the next four events to build a sizeable advantage.
  • Senior Morgan Summers ended the Privateer streak with a decisive 11-second victory in the 100-yard backstroke (1:11.69)
  • The Lady Bears 200-yard freestyle relay of Shannon Doherty, Minogue, Jillian O'Hara and Summers teamed up to close out the meet with a .02 second victory, the closest event of the dual.
  • Senior Tina Wong was out-touched at the wall in two events to earn second place points, edged out by .49 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle (28.85) and .04 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly (1:18.38).
  • Freshman Doherty and senior O'Hara also collected second-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.68) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:28.69), respectively.
  • Junior Jessica Caiazzo swam two personal-bests in the 50-yard freestyle (32.21) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:50.21). 

Next Up for the Lady Bears

St. Joseph's has two weeks off before returning to Maritime to conclude their 2015-16 season at the Skyline Conference championships on January 29-30.
