Doherty Wins Twice to Lead Women’s Swimming at Kean Dual

UNION, N.J. — Senior Shannon Doherty (Brooklyn, N.Y./Churchill) won both of her individual events and Valerie Rodriguez (Woodhaven, N.Y./New Utrecht) also picked up an individual win but the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team dropped a 98-61 non-conference decision to Kean University on Saturday afternoon.

SJC Highlights

  • Doherty picked up the first of her wins in the 200-yard freestyle (2:23.22) with a seven-second victory and collected a win in the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.33).
  • Rodriguez notched a 1.5-second triumph in the 100-yard backstroke (1:18.13)
  • Eireann Corbett (Woodhaven, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) secured second-place points in both her distance events—1000-yard freestyle (14:38.33) and 500-yard freestyle (7:05.15).
  • Kathryn Cosenza (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) swam a personal best in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:03.84 to earn third place.
