Women's Swimming Splits Season Opener at Sarah Lawrence

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team opened their 2019-20 campaign with an 89-50 defeat to Sarah Lawrence College in a Skyline Conference dual meet on Saturday afternoon at the Campbell Athletic Center. The Bears split the season-opening double-dual with an exhibition 79-25 victory over Queensboro Community College.

Bears Highlights

Rebecca Bollmann was out-touched by .21 of a second to narrowly miss victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:27.27).

In addition to Bollman's near win, St. Joseph's collected a quartet of second-place finishes in the individual events: Kathryn Cosenza in the 200-yard freestyle (2:37.04), Jessica Gnad in the 200-yard individual medley (2:55.10), Meghan Corbett in the 100-yard freestyle (1:12.40), and Kasey Gustaveson in the 100-yard backstroke (1:50.81).

Hronec, Bollmann, Gnad, and Cosenza teamed up for second place in the 200-yard medley relay (2:29.64).

The Bears jump back in the pool next Saturday, October 26 with a non-conference double-dual with Ramapo College and Drew University starting at 2 p.m. in Mahwah, N.J.
