Summers Named HVWAC Swimmer of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Recognizing her outstanding performance in the pool in helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team to a split in a double-dual meet with John Jay and New Rochelle, Morgan Summers (Bellerose, NY/St. Mary's) has been named Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Swimmer of the Week for the week ending January 27th.

The freshman took home two individual victories and led her relay team to victory as the Lady Bears beat New Rochelle and lost to John Jay. Summers set blistering times in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke to take decisive wins before leading off the 200-yard freestyle relay squad to victory.

The Swimmer of the Week honor is the first for the freshman in her career who was named Rookie of the Week in December. Summers is the second Lady Bear to win the award this season with Tina Wong (Brooklyn, NY/HS of Telecommunications Art and Technology) taking home the honor in November.

Summers and the Lady Bears return to the pool on Wednesday, January 30th, for a double-dual meet against New Rochelle and Division II Post University starting at 7:30 p.m.
