Undefeated Brooklyn College Too Much for Women's Tennis
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's tennis suffered a 9-0 setback to borough rivals Brooklyn College on Monday afternoon at the Roosevelt Courts.
The Lady Bears (0-2) were held winless for the second straight match, while Bulldogs improved their unblemished record to 6-0.
Sophomore Deirdre Lavelle (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) turned in another competitive effort, partnering with Victoria LoBosco (Glendale, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) at No. 2 doubles for an 8-2 loss before dropping a hard-fought 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 4 singles. LoBosco fell 6-3, 6-0 in her No. 2 singles match.
Senior Kelly McNamee (Glendale, N.Y./Mary Louis) was upended at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-1 and teamed up with freshman Samantha Rossi (Bayside, N.Y./Mary Louis) for the first time this season at No. 1 doubles falling at love, 6-0, 6-0.
The Lady Bears return to the courts on Saturday, September 28th for a non-conference road match at Lehman College slated for a 1 p.m. start.
