McNamee and Rossi Earn Doubles Win in Women's Tennis HVIAC Loss to Sarah Lawrence

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Kelly McNamee (Glendale, N.Y./Mary Louis) and freshman Samantha Rossi (Bayside, N.Y./Mary Louis) notched the lone point for the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's tennis team during an 8-1 defeat to Sarah Lawrence College in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) matchup on Monday night.

The Lady Bears (0-7, 0-2 HVIAC) drop their seventh straight to begin the season, while the Gryphons (6-7, 3-1 HVIAC) have won two of their last three matches and remain in second place in the HVIAC.

Both McNamee and Rossi paired up to win their first doubles match of the year, 8-5, at No. 2 doubles with the freshman earning her first collegiate win.

Sophomore Deirdre Lavelle (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) had the best performance for St. Joseph's in the singles competition falling 10-6 at No. 5 singles. Freshman Madeline Moravek (Whitestone, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) had a respectable outing for the Lady Bears dropping a 10-4 matchup at No. 6 singles.

St. Joseph's returns to the court on Wednesday, October 16th as they host CCNY at the USTA National Tennis Center. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
