Pierre Wins Second Straight HVIAC Player of the Week Award
BROOKYLN N.Y.—For the second straight week, junior Tathiana Pierre (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Ford) has been named the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Pierre went a perfect 4-0 last week during a pair of conference matches against Vaughn and New Rochelle, boosting her winning streak to five straight.
After receiving the announcement of the award on Tuesday morning, Pierre secured 10-1 win at No. 1 singles against York College and a 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles with Victoria LoBosco (Glendale, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) to improve her winning streak to seven matches.
She is the first Lady Bear to receive the award on back-to-back weeks since Jessica Linter '09 did in 2009.
Pierre will look to extend her winning streak when the Lady Bears (2-6, 1-1 HVIAC) return to the courts on Thursday, October 16 for a HVIAC match against Berkeley College at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center starting at 5 p.m.
