Women's Tennis Falls to Yeshiva in Regular Season Finale

FLUSHING, N.Y.—Junior Tathiana Pierre (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Ford) secured the lone point for the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's tennis team in an 8-1 loss to Yeshiva University on Monday evening at the Queens College Tennis Center.

Pierre outlasted Jannah Eichenbaum at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4, to secure her fifth win in her final six singles matches. Her five regular season victories in the top singles flight matches Jessica Lintner in 2009.

Senior Victoria LoBosco (Glendale, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) put a strong effort at No. 3 singles, dropping the opening set, but rallying to force a super tiebreaker, but coming up just short falling 6-1, 4-6, (10-8).

Samantha Rossi (Bayside, N.Y./Mary Louis) and Mary Edward (Glendale, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) teamed up at No. 2 doubles and took five games off Galila Shapiro and Lindsay Frucher, in the strongest doubles match for the Lady Bears.

The Maccabees, future Skyline Conference rivals starting next season, improved to 7-3 with the win. The Lady Bears conclude their regular season with a 3-8 mark and set their sights on the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships to be held on Saturday, October 25th at 10 a.m.
