Treretola Victorious in Skyline Women’s Tennis Match at Mount Saint Mary

NEWBURGH, N.Y. — Freshman Denise Trerotola (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) notched her second singles win of the season and secured the lone point for the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's tennis team in an 8-1 Skyline Conference loss at Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened

  • The host Knights took a 3-0 lead after the opening doubles matches. Tathiana Pierre and Trerotola saw their two-match win streak at No. 1 doubles halted with an 8-4 defeat to Breanna Scott and Katie Conroy.
  • Treretola cruised past Isabella Tartaglione at No. 2 singles dropping only three games in a 6-2, 6-1 triumph for her second singles win of the season.
  • Pierre played another hard-fought match at the top of the Lady Bears lineup against Scott, who earned Skyline Player of the Week honors two weeks ago. Scott narrowly took the opening set before Pierre hung tough in set two to force a tiebreaker but unable to force a third set falling, 7-5, 7-6 (7-2).

The Lady Bears will host former Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rivals College of New Rochelle on Tuesday, September 29. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the York College Tennis Courts.
