Women's Tennis Begins Drossman Era at Rutgers-Newark
NEWARK, N.J. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's tennis team opened their 2016 season under new head coach Daniel Drossman, but despite two gritty matches at the top of the lineup, dropped a 9-0 decision to Rutgers-Newark on Tuesday evening.

SJC Highlights
- Sophomore Denise Trerotola led the Bears lineup and after dropping her opening set to Marthalyn Johnson, pushed her in the second set, but was unable to force a third set falling, 6-1, 7-5.
- Senior Mary Edward was slotted in the No. 2 singles position and played a close opening set, but also fell in straight sets 7-5, 6-1.
Next Up for the Bears
- St. Joseph's has a day off before returning to the courts for their home and Skyline Conference opener, hosting Yeshiva University at 8 p.m. at the Queens College Tennis Courts.
