2013 Women's Volleyball Schedule
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The 2013 St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball schedule features 20 matches and is highlighted by a pair of road tri-matches to eastern Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. as announced by head coach Kathleen O'Neill, who returns for her sixth season. The season opens on September 13th with a non-conference road match at Cooper Union.
Following the opener, the Lady Bears host St. Joseph's (Long Island) in a standout match against their sibling rivals on September 18th, the first of seven home dates at Brooklyn Technical High School.
Last year's Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) undefeated regular season champions open a seven-game league slate in the newly rebranded Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) against the conference's newest member, The King's College (N.Y.), on September 23rd at 7:30 p.m.
Highlighting the home conference slate at Brooklyn Tech are New Rochelle (October 9), Medgar Evers (October 10) and defending HVWAC champions Sarah Lawrence on October 22nd for a Senior Night match to close out the home schedule.
Coach O'Neill's squad will look to avenge their loss in last year's semifinals at the HVIAC Tournament scheduled for October 27th at The College of New Rochelle with the top four teams qualifying.
This year's schedule is comprised off 11 road contests including three tri-matches, the first of in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. on September 28th at King's College (Pa.) with Medgar Evers in a non-conference tilt.
The Lady Bears hit the road again the following weekend, heading to the nation's capital for a tri-match against United States Collegiate Athletic Association foe Washington Adventist and Bryn Athyn on October 6th. The team will look to improve upon their No. 14 USCAA Coaches' Poll ranking last year in hopes of qualifying for the 2013 USCAA National Championships held from October 31-November 2 at SUNY Canton.

Tryouts for all women interested in competing on the volleyball team will take place on Tuesday, September 3rd at 6:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Technical High School. In order to participate in tryouts, you must have a completed SJC athletics medical AND cleared by the Sports Medicine Office. (A concussion test is not required for volleyball).
