GaNun Named AD3I Women's Volleyball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sophomore middle hitter Lauren GaNun (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) has been named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) volleyball Player of the Week after leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team in kills and blocks over a three-game stretch.

The reigning AD3I Rookie of the Year was the leading offensive force for the Lady Bears during the week as she accumulated double-digit kills in each of St. Joseph's three matches. For the week, the sophomore averaged a team-high 3.42 kills per set and 4.00 points per set while bringing up 2.42 digs per set. GaNun recorded her first double-double of the season in the Lady Bears tightly contested five-set loss to Mount Saint Vincent slamming down 15 kills while recording 12 digs. The middle hitter concluded the week with six blocks including three against the Dolphins.

The 2012 First Team AD3I All-Independent selection currently leads the team with 57 kills and ranks second in the Association with her 3.80 kills per set. GaNun also ranks first on the team hitting an efficient .331 which is fourth in the conference.

The award is the first earned by a Lady Bear this season but is the second time in the sophomore's career that she has been named AD3I Player of the Week after earning the honor on October 16th of last season.

St. Joseph's continues their five-match homestand with a matchup against the College of Staten Island today at Brooklyn Technical High School with a start time of 7:30 p.m.
