BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Recognizing her outstanding performance in helping lead the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team to two key Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) wins over New Rochelle and Medgar Evers, sophomore middle hitter Lauren GaNun (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and HVIAC women's volleyball Player of the Week.

GaNun paced the Lady Bears offensive attack during the week as St. Joseph's improved to 4-0 in league play. Against New Rochelle, the sophomore led the Lady Bears with 13 kills and seven digs in the straight-set victory over the then-unbeaten Blue Angels. The middle hitter followed up that performance with a 12-kill, seven-dig, five-ace effort against Medgar Evers. GaNun, who earns her second Player of the Week nod, currently leads the HVIAC with 3.90 kills per set and a .318 hitting percentage.

The sophomore picks up the fourth HVIAC Player of the Week honor of her career and the second from the USCAA. GaNun has earned all four awards given to Lady Bears this year as she was also named the Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week on September 24th.

St. Joseph's returns to action on Thursday, October 17th as they travel to the Bronx to take on Lehman College with a start time of 7 p.m.
