Trio Earns All-HVIAC Volleyball Honors, O'Neill Named Coach of the Year

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Sophomore Lauren GaNun (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall), senior Megan Moran (Syosset, N.Y./St. Dominic's) and junior Jennifer Moncino (Ridgewood, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) were named to the 2013 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) All-Conference Team as announced at the conference championships on Sunday. Head coach Kathleen O'Neill was also recoginized by the conference as its Coach of the Year. 

The trio led the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team to a 14-8 mark overall and perfect 7-0 record in league play, the Lady Bears capturing their second consecutive regular season championship. St. Joseph's finished runner-up to New Rochelle in the HVIAC Tournament. 

GaNun, a three-time HVIAC Player of the Week, is selected to the All-Conference Team for the second year in a row. St. Joseph's best all-around player this season led the Lady Bears in kills (320), hitting percentage (.295), blocks (45.0) and points (380.5). GaNun led the HVIAC in kills per set (4.10) and hitting percentage. The sophomore middle blocker recorded double-digit kills in all but one of St. Joseph's games this season including ten double-doubles. GaNun notched her 500th kill in the Lady Bears regular season finale at Brooklyn College finishing with a school record 25 kills while also bringing up a career-high 20 digs.

Moran receives All-Conference recognition for the second time in her career having also received the honor her sophomore season. The senior helped produce a powerful one-two punch for the Lady Bears teaming up with GaNun. The middle hitter ranked second on the team in kills (257), blocks (24.0) and points (311.0). Moran finished her Lady Bears career with seven straight matches with double-digit kills including a career-high 20 and 19 digs at Brooklyn College.

Moncino is awarded All-HVIAC honors for the first time in her career. The junior outside hitter appeared in all 22 matches and finished second on the team with 262 digs. Moncino recorded 91 kills and led St. Joseph's with 51 service aces. Moncino had a career-high nine kills in the Lady Bears straight-set win over Yeshiva.  

O'Neill earns Coach of the Year recognition for the first time from the HVIAC, but was named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Coach of the Year last season.
