GaNun Receives USCAA All-American Honorable Mention; Four Earn All-Academic Team Honors

CANTON, N.Y. – Sophomore Lauren GaNun (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) was recognized by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) as an Honorable Mention All-American in women's volleyball while teammates Megan Moran (Syosset, N.Y./St. Dominic's), Jennifer Moncino (Ridgewood, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), Anna Carbone (Ozone Park, N.Y./Mary Louis) and Cassandra Nasta (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) were named to the National All-Academic Team as was announced by the USCAA last week.

GaNun, the USCAA Player of the Week on October 15th and 22nd, earns her first end of season accolade from the USCAA. St. Joseph's best all-around player this season led the Lady Bears in kills (320), hitting percentage (.295), blocks (45.0) and points (380.5). GaNun led the USCAA in kills per set (4.10) and had an impressive .295 hitting percentage. The sophomore middle blocker recorded double-digit kills in all but one of St. Joseph's games this season including ten double-doubles. GaNun notched her 500th kill in the Lady Bears regular season finale at Brooklyn College finishing with a school-record 25 kills while also bringing up a career-high 20 digs.

Moran, a senior, receives All-Academic Team honors from the USCAA for the second time in her career having also earned the accolade last year in softball. The middle hitter helped produce a powerful one-two punch for the Lady Bears teaming up with GaNun. Moran ranked second on the team in kills (257), blocks (24.0) and points (311.0). Moran finished her Lady Bears career with seven straight matches with double-digit kills including a career-high 20 along with 19 digs at Brooklyn College.

Moncino, a junior, appeared in all 22 matches and finished second on the team with 262 digs. Moncino recorded 91 kills and led St. Joseph's with 51 service aces. Moncino had a career-high nine kills in the Lady Bears straight-set win over Yeshiva. The outside hitter earns USCAA All-Academic honors for the first time in her career.

Carbone, a sophomore, takes home the All-Academic honor in her first year eligible to receive the award. The outside hitter had a large impact on the defensive end for the Lady Bears as she led the team with 337 digs and led the HVIAC with a 4.32 digs per set average. Carbone finished fourth on the team with 57 kills and ended up ranking third on the team with her 37 service aces. 

Nasta, a sophomore, also earns the accolade in her first year of eligibility. Nasta concluded the season playing in eight matches finishing with one kill and seven assists.

USCAA National All-Academic Team members must be sophomore academic standing or higher and maintain a minimum cumulative 3.5 grade point average in order to qualify.
