GaNun, Moncino and Carbone Earn AD3I Women's Volleyball All-Independent Honors

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Three members of the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team were honored by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) as the 2014 All-Independent Teams were announced today.

Junior Lauren GaNun (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) and senior Jennifer Moncino (Ridgewood, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) were both named to the All-Independent Second Team, while junior Anna Carbone (Ozone Park, N.Y./Mary Louis) received honorable mention.

This is the third time GaNun has secured All-Independent honors.  She was the Lady Bears' top offensive player, leading the Lady Bears in kills (308), kills per set (4.60), hitting percentage (.279), blocks (28), and points (369.5). The three-time All-HVIAC and two-time AD3I All-Independent First Team member recorded four double-doubles and compiled double digit kills in 14 games, including four times with 20 or more kills. Her 40 kills against Culinary still stands as the most in an NCAA Division III game this season.

Moncino earns All-Independent honors for the second straight season, also receiving second team honors last season. The senior led her team in service aces (38) and digs (228) and finished second in kills (102) and points (141). One of the Lady Bears' most consistent players, Moncino reached double-digit digs in 13 games.

This is the second time Carbone has received All-Independent recognition, taking home second team honors as an outside hitter last season. The junior topped the Lady Bears with 261 assists and tallied 50 kills, 37 service aces and 193 digs after filling in as primary setter halfway through the season. She also recorded four double-doubles – the first of her career – and finished with double-digit digs in nine games.

The women's volleyball coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member schools selected the All-Independent Women's Volleyball teams.
